Finding a Cure

MS WALK

Multiple Sclerosis is the number one neurological disease leading to disability in young adults. It is estimated to affect 400,000 Americans – most of them women. That’s why MARTIN’S has “joined the movement” to support our customers and associates who may suffer from this disease that robs people of movement. “Team MARTIN’S,” comprised of associates and customers, is the largest MS Walk Team in the United States.

Monies are raised for education, advocacy, research and local programs that enhance the quality of life for people with the debilitating disease of Multiple Sclerosis. In 2007, MARTIN’S broke its own record and had 2,500 associates, friends and family members participate in “Team MARTIN’S” raising more than $1 million in pledges.

Additionally, we raise monies for the MS Society through the sale of paper sneakers at our registers each spring. Recent sales have netted nearly $500,000 for local MS Chapters.

GIANT FOR JAKE GOLF OUTING

Supplier partners join us each year for the “GIANT for Jake” golf outing to benefit the Jake Gittlen Memorial Cancer Foundation. Ninety cents of every dollar raised by Gittlen directly supports cancer research at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. We are proud to say that GIANT is the number one contributor to this worthy foundation, with nearly $4 million in contributions to date.
