CARLISLE, PA – July 14, 2003 – Today officials from GIANT Food Stores announced that they would open a new store in Shrewsbury, Pa. on Wednesday, July 16. The store has been relocated and will employ 200 associates in the Shrewsbury area. To celebrate the opening, GIANT will make a donation of $1,000 each to Shrewsbury Fire Company, Southern Regional Police Department, Rose Fire/Ambulance and Souther York County Library for a total of $4,000. “We’re thrilled to be expanding our services to better serve the Shrewsbury community,” said Dennis Hopkins, vice president of advertising and sales development. “At GIANT Food Stores, we pride ourselves in making shopping convenient for our customers. The Shrewsbury store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will highlight U-scan technology that allows customers to scan their own groceries for a faster checkout.” The 55,000 square foot store will also feature expanded entry and exit areas, a pharmacy, an array of fresh produce, and full-service deli, bakery, floral and meat/seafood departments.
