MARTIN'S FOOD MARKETS ANNOUNCES OPENING DATE FOR ELDERSBURG LOCATION

Eldersburg, Md. - Martin's Food Markets today announced it will open the doors to its brand-new 76,700 square foot Eldersburg location at 1320 Londontown Boulevard on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at 8 a.m. The new location will replace the Martin's store at 6300 Georgetown Boulevard, which is scheduled to close on Tuesday, August 29 at 6 p.m.

The food retailer also announced that Joe Reed has been appointed as store manager of the new Eldersburg Martin's. A resident of Taneytown, Md., Reed has 35 years of experience in the grocery store business and managed the former Eldersburg Martin's for the last nine years.

"I'm honored to be working with such a seasoned management team as we have assembled at the new Eldersburg store," said Reed. "Our customers can expect the same friendly faces that have become synonymous with the Martin's name along with terrific new associates like Lisa Coleman, our in-store nutritionist, who will help enhance the total shopping experience."

The new store will also feature many of the innovative solutions and amenities that are the hallmark of Martin's newer prototype stores. In the area of Health and Wellness, the new Martin's is proud to announce the appointment of Lisa Coleman, MS, RD, LDN, a full-time nutritionist who will be available to assist customers with their healthy dietary needs. The store will also feature Martin's organic and natural brand of products, Nature's Promise, including the recently launched Nature's Promise meats, along with helpful information on leading healthier lifestyles. Customer-friendly technology, including self-checkouts, hand-held devices to help customers scan prices as they shop, and interactive kiosks, will provide customers with greater speed, convenience and efficiency while shopping.

In addition, customers will be able to take advantage of other new features such as the Relax, Renew, Revive health and beauty care department, "Your Neighborhood Drug Store at Martin's" staffed with experienced pharmacists, a coffee bar with wireless Internet connections, and The Tree House, an on-site supervised children's play area.
