H1N1 Information

According to the CDC, H1N1 is contagious and can spread from person to person through coughing or sneezing. It can also be spread by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching your mouth or nose. The CDC says H1N1 influenza viruses are not transmitted by food and that you cannot get H1N1 influenza from eating pork or pork products.

There are everyday actions that we can all take to prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like the flu:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper arm rather than into your hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread easily this way.
  • Limit handshaking and close personal contact to contain the spread of germs during flu season.
  • If you get sick with the flu, stay home from work and limit contact with others for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.

As a Company, we want to assure you that we have detailed plans in place to protect the health and safety of our associates and customers as the national flu situation changes. Information has been supplied to our associates reminding them of measures to prevent the spread of germs and the importance of frequent hand washing.

We also have strict procedures in place for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of our stores. Customers can find hand sanitizing wipes at store entrances and exits and we are making sanitizers available throughout our stores and offices.

Our team of pharmacists is ready to help customers if they have questions or prescriptions that need to be filled. We stock anti-viral medications and can fill prescriptions that have been prescribed by medical professionals.
