Stressed for the Holidays?

StressIf you’re feeling overwhelmed by thoughts of shopping, cooking, family visits and travel this holiday season, remember to take a few minutes for yourself and relax. Stress, during the holidays and all year long, can cause health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure and headaches. Keep your body healthy by reducing your stress level with these easy tips.

Prioritize your tasks. Does the success of your Thanksgiving dinner really depend on cleaning out that drawer right now? Making a to-do list each day will help you decide which tasks are more important and which ones can wait.

Take a walk on your lunch break. Even if your day is jam-packed with urgent projects, ten minutes in the crisp fall air will help clear your mind and refresh your body.

Don’t over-commit. Your neighbor’s party, your child’s school event, the community bake sale… they all require your precious time. Be honest with yourself before committing to an activity. Don’t agree to do something that will put a crunch on your already limited free time.

Get plenty of rest. Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep. Your body requires 5 to 8 hours a night in order to repair itself so you can awake refreshed and ready for a new day.
