Rice Milk – Is rice milk healthy?

Rice milk can be part of a healthy diet. It is made from brown rice and filtered water and is cholesterol free, lactose free, soy free, and dairy free. An 8-ounce serving of rice milk provides 80 to 120 calories, but only 1 gram of protein compared to the 8 grams of protein in the same amount of cow’s milk.

Rice milk may be suitable for children if their protein needs are met with other foods, however, rice milk should not be used as a substitute for infant formula. Commercial brands of rice milk are often fortified with vitamins and minerals including calcium, vitamin D2 and vitamin B12. Rice milk is perfect for vegans and for individuals who have milk or soy allergies or lactose intolerance. It has a delicious mild, refreshing taste, and is very easily digested. Rice milk can be used on cereal, in smoothies and coffee, as a beverage or as an ingredient in recipes.
