UNITED WAY

MARTIN’S provides annual support to over 40 United Way agencies throughout our operating area. Donations are obtained from our stores and corporate office associates through an annual fund drive. In 2004, MARTIN’S donated over $767,712.

GIANT FOR JAKE GOLF OUTING

GIANT is the #1 contributor to the Jake Gittlen Cancer Research Foundation, contributing over $2,000,000 since 1982 through the "GIANT for Jake" golf outing. Ninety cents of every dollar raised by Gittlen is used directly for cancer research. Our vendor partners work with us to support this research through the annual golf outing and a special ad program.

BAGS TO BENCHES

In recognition of Earth Day, and as part of our on-going commitment to recycling, MARTIN’S stores donate benches made from recycled plastic bags to a local elementary school. The benches are made of a product called Trex, which is composed of plastic grocery bags recycled from our stores.
If your school has not received a bench in the past and is interested in receiving one, please contact your local store manager at the beginning of January to make him/her aware of your request to receive a bench. Your school can be added to the store’s list of interested recipients.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

As a sponsor of Harrisburg’s Black History Month Celebration, MARTIN’S honors the lives and achievements of prominent African-American men and women throughout history. MARTIN’S also celebrates Black History Month in February with stores hosting several events including live radio broadcasts, ethnic food demonstrations, in-store concerts, storytelling, and educational activities. Thousands of customers and vendor partners join in to help us celebrate this festive occasion.

CHARITABLE GIFT CARD PROGRAM

MARTIN’S® Food Markets, provides gift cards for sale at a discount to non-profit organizations, including schools and churches, for their fundraising efforts. By having just 50 families in your organization purchase $100 in MARTIN’S gift cards each week, your group could earn $13,000 in just one year! CORPORATE & STORE DONATIONS

Store managers are empowered to provide financial assistance to many local organizations in their communities. The organizations include non-profit groups such as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA, and YWCA as well as local sport teams. Schools and church groups are also considered by store managers as requested.
