Environmentally Responsible Seafood

Sustainability is defined as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Global demand for seafood is growing—in part due to population increases as well as increased awareness of the health benefits associated with eating seafood. Maintaining sustainability of our seafood resources is of particular importance in light of the increasing demand.

Effective management of commercial fisheries is vital to ensure healthy and sustainable wild fish stocks for the future. Choosing wild-caught seafood that was caught using environmentally responsible practices is increasingly important to the health of our oceans.
